Power system
WIND & SOLAR
It has bee a long standing dream to design and construct an off the grid, stand alone hybrid electrical generation and storage system and a passive heat/cooling system. I recently found a link to both wind generators and a stand alone tower systems that may address some of the previously difficult aspects of wind power systems. Adding solar has become much easier as the newer charge controlers intergrated with the wind generators combine those features. Also the newer wind plants produce AC voltage which is more efficient than DC voltage due to more reasonable wire sizes coming down the tower as line loss is less of an issue.

COGENERATION
Another aspect of the power system is the posibility of a cogen system to supplement the wind and solar system. One posible consideration is to convert a Honda 2000I generator to propane and recover the exhaust heat to heat domestic water and recover the engine heat via air to air heat exchanger for space heating. This is in the design stage.
